Urinay Tract Infection and Symptoms

Urinary tract infection is caused by bacterial infection on the urinary tract, any infection shows certain symptoms. Urinary tract infection and symptoms depend on the level of infection.


Urinary tract infection is caused by the bacteria E-coli. The bacteria gets itself deposited into the urinary tract and accumulate itself in the urinary tract.

If the infection is on the lower urinary tract consisting of urethra, then the infection is called cystitis. If the infection is on the upper urinary tract consisting of bladder and kidneys, then the infection is called pyelonephritis.

Symptoms of lower urinary tract infection are, passing out urine more frequently, feeling irritation while passing urine, urine comes out with a foul odor, fever, nausea. These are the few symptoms of urinary tract infection on the lower urinary tract.

Symptoms of upper urinary tract infection are, passing out urine more frequently during night, feeling pain while passing out urine, feeling pain in the abdominal area below the ribs and above the waist, fever, chills, nausea, vomit.

These are the few symptoms of urinary tract infection on the upper urinary tract.In children, symptoms of urinary tract infection are, children feeling pain while passing out urine, urine coming out with a foul odor, urine is discolored, fever persistent for a few days, jaundice, children having abdominal area, chills, vomit.

These are the symptoms of urinary tract infection in children. As children are unable to express their feelings and discomforts, parents must keep tract of the children.

If children feel any discomfort while passing out urine, it is always recommended to consult a physician at the earliest to avoid complication at a later stage.

In adults of old age, those who have of history of diabetes are more prone to urinary tract infection, adults losing mental balance, shortness of breath, vomit, cough, any pain in the abdominal area, these are the few symptoms of urinary tract infection in old age persons.

On noticing the urinary tract infection and symptoms, it is always recommended to consult a physician at the earliest to avoid complication at a later stage.
